Bagno a Ripoli A Countyside in Tuscany Full of Artistic and Natural Treasures

The whole area offers many natural riches, such as Bosco di Fonte Santa , as well as historical- artistic treasures such as the many parish country curches, castles and villas.

An extraordinary example of "industrial architecture" to be seen is the Gualchiere di Remole, the Oratorio di Santa Caterina a Rimezzano , the ancient Spedale del Bigallo, (with exceptional opening on the 22nd and 23rd of March 2003 from 10 am to 6 pm), which has recently been transformed into a particular structure, i.e. museum, hotel and theatre at the same time. Here you may attend many convivial meetings that will let you live over again the tradition of banquets, concerts, sampling slow food dinners and exhibitions.

Another touristic site is the Antiquarium (museum), in Ritortoli street n.6, where you can find remains of great interest among which a collection of coins and other material that bears witness to the human presence in the area since the neolithic.

For some years Bagno a Ripoli has been a part of the circuit "Five Green Places ", an activity based on the concept of "open museum" that has elaborated a number of interesting touristic routes both over the city territory and in the neighbouring counties. At the same time you can't miss in Grassina at Easter on Good Friday, the opportunity to attend the historical evocation of the Passion of our Lord, that goes back to the seventienth century.
The representation is divided into two parts: the historical parade, in which almost six hundred participants in period costume take part and scenes from the life and passion of Jesus.
