Fosdinovo in Massa Carara, Tuscany

Fosdinovo is a very old settlement that for centuries has dominated the Magra and the Luni plains. The atmosphere is one of borderlands: you can almost smell the sea without forgetting the mountains behind. Local cuisine is excellent and can be tried and tasted in its many good restaurants.

Nature and Walking Routes in Fosdinovo
There are numerous routes to take, both on foot and with other means of transport (bike, car, etc…) to explore the lush vegetation of the mountains sorrounding the town of Fosdinovo.
Relaxing walks along paths or roads through woods, villages, parish churches and castles.
One interesting trek, which is easy to travel, is the route from Fosdinovo to Aulla that passes the castle of Ponzanello, the town of Treschietto and that of Bibola.

Food and Wine in Fosdinovo
Among the local products, of the highest quality and prestigi, make sure you try the extra-virgin olive oil. This is made from local varieties including the “RAZZOLA”, which in recent years has won numerous awards: presented in 2003 at Zurich for the “2ND INTERNATIONAL OLIVE OIL AWARD ZURICH ”, it won the Silver Olive award in the “strong oils” category. In 2004 in Hamburg it was nominated one of the best 250 oils in the world. As for wine-growing and producing, the territory of the hills of Luni is a D.O.C. zone producine Vermentino dei Colli di Luni, a fine wine. Vines producing red grapes are also cultivated, including the autochthonous merza variety.
Other fine local products include: honey, marmalade and several fine jams.
