Capraia Fiorentina and Limite sull'Arno on the Banks of the River Arno, province of Florence

The municipal territory of Capraia and Limite, located on the right bank of the Arno River with its townships of Limite sull’Arno and Capraia Fiorentina, extends over an area of 25 sq kms. The typically hilly panorama along the course of the river is situated in a central position in the Tuscany region, at 30 kms from Florence.

The northern part of the area is occupied on the south side by Montalbano, a hilly mountainous chain that reaches a height of 633 metres and that extends in an arch from the Mass of Gonfolina on the left bank of the Arno to the Seravalle Pistoiese at the gates of Pistoia.

Decending towards the river, the woodlands give way to olive orchards, grazing land and grape cultivations. The hilly arch decends sweetly towards the Arno and leaves a nearby space for a thin flat strip on which lies the township of Limite. The town of Capraia is located on a spur which decends steeply to the Arno and still maintains its characteristic of a fortified medieval village.
