Things to See in Incisa in the Val D'Arno near Florence

Oratorio del Crocefisso (Oratory of the Crucifix ) Via Castellana. Museo d'Arte Sacra (Sacred Arts Museum). Complesso conventuale (convent) SS.Cosma e Damiano al Vivaio. Ex-oratory S.Alessandro in Piazza del Municipio: A triptych by San Michele by Andrea di Giusto is housed here. The Romanic Parish Chursh of San Vito Loppiano: Inside is the so called “Madonna della Cintola”, attributed by Berenson to Francesco D’Antonio and the “San Michele che pesa le anime”, attributed to Orazio Fidani, student of Bilivert.

Incisa is a good starting point to reach the main artistic cities of Tuscany: Florence, Siena, Arezzo. From Incisa, depart for alternative areas in the vicinity: the Chianti, the Vallombrosa forest and the hills that form a boundary between the Valdarno and the Ema Valley.

For Arezzo: Take the Autosole south, or the SS 69 south. For Siena: The Autosole north to the Certosa exit, then the Superstrada for Siena. For the Chianti: SS 69 towards Figline then the Provincial Chianti road towards Ponte agli Stolli. Then Greve in Chianti. For Vallombrosa: Take the Provincial road to Reggello then Vallombrosa.

Another type of itinerary, less cultural, but nevertheless much appreciated (especially by American and Japanese tourists), which has been constantly growing over the years, is the tour of the clothing factory outlets in the area, located right in Incisa. It is a wonderful opportunity to purchase designer clothing at factory prices.
