Museo Richard-Ginori della Manifattura di Doccia - Firenze in Toscana

 

Il Museo accoglie un ricchissimo campionario dell’antica manifattura di porcellane che fino al 1954 aveva sede a Doccia ed è stata poi trasferita a Sesto. Fondata nel 1735 dal marchese Carlo Ginori, uomo di ampia cultura artistica e di lungimirante senso imprenditoriale, memore degli esperimenti sulla porcellana di pasta tenera patrocinati dagli stessi Medici, la Fabbrica di Doccia ha conosciuto periodi di autentico splendore, accresciuta e perfezionata da successivi apporti (fondamentale quello dello svizzero Richard) e ancor oggi produce oggetti di squisita fattura.

 

Razionalmente esposti e piacevolmente distribuiti con criteri moderni in grandi ambienti luminosi, si susseguono nelle vetrine del museo i pezzi più pregiati della collezione, dalle origini all’epoca moderna: a partire dalle porcellane di grande formato nelle quali Carlo Ginori volle tradurre la plastica barocca del Foggini e del Soldani (sec. XVII) e la statuaria classica delle collezioni granducali (come la Venere dei Medici), ai vassoi in bassorilievo o a figure orientaleggianti, al monumentale camino in ceramica bianca e azzurra del 1754. Anche la produzione dei secoli seguenti, (vasi e serviti preziosi e ampiamente decorati dell’Ottocento, forme sinuose del periodo Liberty e piatti eseguiti secondo il disegno di avanguardia del Novecento), è abbondantemente rappresentata nella ricca esposizione, alla quale è annessa una biblioteca specializzata che raccoglie sia testi relativi alla storia della porcellana che i disegni e le stampe serviti da modello per le decorazioni.
