The Florence APT wants to extend a special welcome to those who visit the city with their family and small children especially. We decided to suggest some interesting, light-hearted ideas for visiting the city combining the whole existing family offer package together to make it useful and better-known.

Normally cities of art can heavy-going, especially for those with small children, but Florence wants to make it light, especially for them. Denying art to families and making it accessible only to those with no practical charges is a crime we neither can nor wish to commit.

Not only are children able to capture the wonder of art and beauty, but even more their not being conditioned by historiography often enables them to appreciate its immediate, instinctive worth.Thus was born the Florence with children guide, a practical, easy-to-use book that APT Florence wrote jointly with the Touring Club Italiano.

The aim is to present Florence and the forty-three townships in the Province in many different lights, both artistic with the monuments and in the museums where there are interactive laboratories, but also environmental where you can run around, go to a playground or do sport and where the young tourist can take a pleasurable break from his labours.

There is no lack of cultural ideas, performances, libraries and places for playing games and plenty of practical tips on where to have a snack or buy a special toy.
The Florence Tourism Agency hopes that readers of this guide, including many who have been here before, will perhaps feel encouraged to come back with their children to discover with them the magic of a city. Reserved for children.
