Das naturschutzgebiet von bolgheri - Toskana
Das erste vom WWF in Italien eingerichtete Schutzgebiet für Tiere ist ein wahres Schmuckstück der Natur. Das Feuchtgebiet von internationaler Bedeutung wird von November bis Mai von Tausenden von Wasservögeln besiedelt. Unter anderem nisten hier Zwergtaucher, Purpurreiher, Stockente und das Blässhuhn, außerdem machen viele Zugvögel halt, wie z.B. Silberreiher, Bekassine und der Schwarzstorch.
Die Schönheit des Sumpfgebietes von Bolgheri kann man besonders gut bewundern, wenn man in den Aussichtshütten Rast macht, oder die im Wasser angelegten Stege entlang geht.
Das Gebiet befindet sich zwischen dem dichten Pinienwald und einem weiten, dünenreichen Strand. Dieser eindrucksvolle und intakte Abschnitt der alten Maremma ist Lebensraum für Rehe, Eichhörnchen, Marder, sowie für Enten und Ringeltauben.
Die dichte Vegetation mit Wacholderbäumen, Pinien, Eschen und Weiden spiegelt sich in dem funkelnden Wasser des Sumpfes.
